Sri Ramaswamy Memorial University, popularly known as SRM University is a premier co-educational private university in the state of Tamil Nadu,India. The university has three campuses in Tamil Nadu at Kattankulatur, Kancheepuram district, Ramapuram,Trichy and one in Modinagar, near Delhi. Previously functioning under Anna University, as SRM Engineering College, the institute gained deemed status in 2003-04, and was renamed SRMIST(SRM Institute of Science and Technology) and then eventually called SRM University. It is Ranked as No 1 private University in India
The institution is ISO 9001:2000 certified.
Past of the University
The beginnings of the college can be traced back to 1968, when Valliammai Society started a primary school called Florence Nightingale School (now the SRM Nightingale School). Later, Valliammai Polytechnic was set up. It was only in 1985 that SRM Engineering College was established. How to get Admission
Admission to SRM Engineering college is based on an entrance examination SRMEEE(SRM Engineering Entrance Examination) which is conducted in centers all over India and Bhutan. Short-listed students will be called for counseling and admission procedures will be carried out.

The university is approved by the University Grants Commission and is also accredited by the NAAC National Assessment and Accreditation Council.it is the no.1 private university in india.It has been given an overall grade of B+ by NAAC.
